Generative AI art relies heavily on prompts to guide the creation of characters, backgrounds, styles and other elements. One of the most frequently requested features for Anifusion has been a system to manage these prompts, allowing users to easily save, load and organize prompts for their favorite subjects.

The main challenge in implementing this feature was determining the optimal design from both a development and user experience perspective. After careful consideration, the approach taken represents the most streamlined and intuitive implementation of the prompt management functionality.

Therefore, we are excited to introduce the new "Prompt Library" feature in Anifusion!

Prompt Library: How it works

The Prompt Library is accessed via a popup that can be opened from any prompt input field in the application sidebar. Simply click the folder icon in the top right corner and the library will display on the left side of the sidebar.

The library presents a grid view of all currently saved prompts. Each prompt is represented by a thumbnail image that the user can upload to visualize the output. Applying a prompt to the current workspace is as simple as clicking on the corresponding thumbnail.

Adding prompts

Adding a new prompt to the library is a straightforward process. Click the "+" icon in the grid view to open the prompt creation dialog. Here you can specify a name for the prompt, edit the prompt text, and optionally upload a thumbnail image. By default, the prompt text will be pre-populated with the contents of the current prompt editor.

While uploading a thumbnail is optional, it is highly recommended in order to maintain a clear visual overview of your prompt collection. For the best aesthetic, use a square aspect ratio for the thumbnail image. Currently, images generated within Anifusion cannot be directly uploaded as thumbnails. As a temporary workaround, you can take a screenshot of the generated image, crop it, and then upload it to the prompt library.

Categories

In the top right of the Prompt Library interface, you'll notice options to filter the prompt list by category. Currently, prompts are divided into two categories:

  • General: This category encompasses all types of prompts.
  • Face: This category is reserved for prompts specifically designed for use with the "Face Detailer" feature (more on this in the next section).

In future updates, the category system will be expanded to include additional classifications such as characters, backgrounds, styles, etc. Users will also have the ability to define their own custom categories for even more flexibility.

Using the Prompt Library: Examples

While the core use case for the Prompt Library is quite clear, here are a couple of key examples to illustrate its utility:

Loading Characters for the Story Generation feature

The Prompt Library streamlines the process of switching between character prompts during the creation of manga using the story generation system. Previously, users had to manually re-enter the prompt text every time they wanted to change characters. Now, with the Prompt Library, you can save your character prompts and quickly load them as needed.

Many users prefer the fine-grained control offered by the manual model settings in the automatic story generation feature. The Prompt Library complements this workflow by allowing for rapid iteration on character designs and seamless integration into the story creation process.

Leverage face prompts to fine-tune the emotions of characters

The "Enhance Face" action in Anifusion utilizes img2img to regenerate the faces of characters. This is commonly used to change or intensify the emotional expressions of characters for dramatic effect.

The Prompt Library simplifies the management of various emotion-related prompts. You can create a collection of face prompts for different emotions and quickly apply them as needed during the face enhancement process. This enables you to fine-tune your characters' appearances with just a few clicks.

Conclusion

The new Prompt Library feature in Anifusion brings a new level of organization and efficiency to the prompt-driven workflow of generative AI art. By providing a centralized, visual system for managing prompts, users can save time, iterate faster, and maintain better control over their creations. We look forward to seeing the creative ways in which the Anifusion community leverages this new functionality. As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions as we continue to refine and expand the capabilities of the Prompt Library and Anifusion as a whole.
